Library Coordinator:

TIU seeks an intern to participate in a variety of projects associated with the planning, coordination, administration, funding, implementation, and marketing of our library.

1. Statement not exceeding 500 words explaining how this internship fits with the candidate’s educational program and career goals;
2. Current resume; and
3. Letter of recommendation from the director or a major professor in the program in which the applicant is enrolled. The letter should state the program’s internship requirements, including the number of hours necessary to successfully complete the internship.

This post is for an initial period of six months but may be extended for a further period subject to mutual agreement. Interns receive a small travel and general expenses allowance of $100.00 per month.
The position of Library Intern is, therefore, a diverse one and would best suit an individual who appreciates the need for libraries to promote their services. Interns divide their time between working with the library team, assisting with marketing tasks and individual projects (roughly 60% of the role involves working with the library team).
A typical day might involve:

the first point of call for library users;

reshelving and cataloguing;

individual project work;

reviewing library collections;

promoting the library through social media, blog posts, and images.
